Portrait Photography in Scarborough, North Yorkshire by Ceri Oakes
The British Beard Club held it’s annual festival at Scarborough Spa on Saturday with an array of facial hair on display. Local clubs and bearded individuals travelled to the Yorkshire Coast to meet up, drink beer and talk all things beard. I was covering the event for the local paper, the Scarborough News, so alongside some candid shots and some set-up photos for the paper I also shot some portraits. I chose this green background as it reminded me of the kind of colour you might find in a gentlemen’s lounge that bearded folk could frequent. I used a single ring flash for simplicity as I wanted to keep the images similar in style, focussing on the contrasts in the beards themselves.
