Tour de Yorkshire Photography for the Whitby Gazette and Yorkshire Post
This was my third year covering the Tour de Yorkshire in the Whitby area, I knew straight away where I wanted to be to take photos after hearing about their antics last year. After taking some photos along the route, I spent the afternoon with a group of neighbours in Fylingthorpe (a village close to Robin Hood’s Bay near Whitby) who go all out each year with fancy dress, food and drink, and best of all, giant Yorkshire Puddings dangling from a wire for the cyclists.
I got there early to cover the build up to the event, and a few entertaining moments including a double-decker bus nearly taking out the strategically placed Yorkshire Pudding! It was french wine and Yorkshire Tea all round, the sun shone, and the smell of sausages sizzling on the BBQ wafted through the air. Add to that the Yorkshire sense of humour and you’ve got yourself the perfect set up for some spectator sport.
