I had a lovely shoot with Ellie from Oakapple Haberdashery on Wednesday. The aim of the session was to get some relaxed photos of Ellie in her natural environment, Ellie runs her business online from her home in Whitby, North Yorkshire. (She also works part time at the hospital, is a mum of two and has two cats!) Ellie was a little nervous about having her photo taken so we started off with getting her sewing some pirate bunting before doing some more posed pictures, and we chatted away throughout. I could have chatted to Ellie all day, as we are both females who are running a business in a small town, we have lots in common, I also learnt what a ‘fat quarter’ is and other sewing lingo!
During the shoot we took some arty shots of some of the products Ellie sells on her site, using the fabrics and Ellie’s home as a colourful backdrop. The window light gave a really natural feel to the images, and we used a little flash with a shoot-through umbrella to make the colours as punchy as possible.
I can’t wait to see the images on Ellie’s site which you can view here: oakapplehaberdashery.co.uk
