North Yorkshire Christening by Ceri Oakes Photography
I photographed little Mila earlier in the year when she was just a few weeks old, so I was always going to say yes when Laura and James asked me to shoot the christening, despite it falling on my 30th birthday! Laura and James were lovely and bought me a bottle of Prosecco along when they realised, which I had to smuggle into church in my camera bag!
It was lovely to see Mila again, she looked gorgeous in her little dress and floral headband which was made by Laura’s friend Abbie Winter.
I started the day by shooting images of people arriving at the church, followed by some candid shots as the ceremony unfolded and we finished off with some group shots in the church of both sides of the family.
My favourite images of the day were the precious moments between Laura, James and Mila. They look at her with such adoration, and Laura could not stop beaming all day.
There were lots of children at the christening which took place at St Hilda’s Church in Whitby, which kept the ceremony light hearted and fun.
Mila was teething on the day and a little bit teary, but throwing her up in the air made her laugh and smile so we got some quite dynamic photos of her with mum and dad!
I gave the images to Laura and James in a variety of colour and black and white, so here’s a few of my favourites of each below:
