When shooting portraits, whether it be a family shoot, a child or even a pet – I love nothing better than capturing them in natural, beautiful surroundings. Choosing a location the subject loves, somewhere familiar, where they feel relaxed is when the magic happens. A portrait should tell a story and give a hint to a person’s personality.
This is why I rarely shoot in the studio. I like to make the most of natural light, to create an image that is a snapshot in time, a little piece of history. I strive to create portraits that are two things, a picture of a person as well as a piece of art that you would want to hang on your wall.
For when the great British weather needs a little boost, or if you’d prefer a studio shoot, I have a full lighting set which I prefer to adapt to recreate natural or creative lighting effects.
