Wedding Photography in York by Ceri Oakes
Amy and Chris’ wedding had special meaning to me as Amy is the sister of my best friend Emma and we all grew up in the same area of York together. So it was a real honour to be asked to be her wedding photographer and record her special day.
Sandburn Hall on the outskirts of York is a stunning venue, with copious grounds and amazing floor to ceiling windows that let the light flood in. The forecast in the run up to the wedding was heavy thunderstorms so we were all thrilled when the sun shone all day.
The couple got ready in the nearby log cabins, and we couldn’t miss out on getting a few pictures of the groom Chris enjoying a quick beer in the hot tub before the wedding.
Amy looked absolutely stunning in a fishtail lace dress. All weddings are filled with emotion, but as Amy walked down the aisle you can see in the pictures her face change as she sees her husband to be waiting for her. The tears soon turned to laughter though in a day that was filled with joy and fun.
Amy and Chris let me whisk them away to a nearby location where we took some time out from the party and got some portraits of the newlyweds as the late afternoon sun poured through the trees.
Here are a selection of my favourite images from the day:
